Our Motto:
"Where the pieces of family
life are put back together"
Family Transitions
Inc. was started in 1999 and became a 501C-3 non-profit organzation in 2003. FTI started out working as parent educators,
providing outreach programs to low income areas of Columbia, SC which included the old Saxon Homes/Allen Benedict Court areas,
Gonzales Gardens, the Hyatt Park housing development and the Waverly Community. Our services included brigance screenings,
parenting education classes, family oriented workshops, GED and computer classes, a boys transitional group (elementary and
middle school), a fathers initative program, a teen-parent group and home visitation scheduling for new mothers or for mothers
of children ages birth to five.
FTI sponsored several fundraising activities to include car washes, bake sales, garage sales, etc; in which the money was
used to feed the families during the workshops, to buy books for the children's lending library, field trips, for holiday
gifts (turkeys for Thanksgiving, etc), for door prizes, etc; Everything that we collected, was raised by the community, returned
to the community.
Today Family Transitions
Inc. is taking a break to revamp their programs to better fit the needs of the changing community. Although we are in the
process of changing our program, we are still in the business of helping, so please take a few minutes to view our services.
If we are unable to provide you with the assitance that you need, we will be able to refer you to someone that can.
We are very excited about the upcoming changes and look forward
to being accepted by the community residents, with open arms.
